MAHAVIR HEART RESEARCH FOUNDATION
|
MAHAVIR HEART RESEARCH FOUNDATION was started by the Foundee Trustee Late. Shri Dahyabhai T. Shah about 18 yrs. ago as a humanitarian institution dedicated to the noble cause of serving the aliling heart patients of economically weaker sections of the society. These patients could ill afford the high cost of heart surgery and treatment. I am indeed very priviledged to be associated with the foundation from its very inception in the capacity of Trustee & Secretary. On the Panel of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation, foremost of the Cardiologists, Surgeons, Industrialists, Philanthropists fo Mumbai are included. The Foundation has just performed in the last 15 months 474 operations from January 1997 till March 1998 with 100% success ratio. Some of the major achievements of the Foundation are given below :
Further, to cater to the needy outstation patients, free boarding and lodging facility is provided at the guest house of the Foundation known as SURAJBA ATITHI GRIHA, where about 100 patients and their escorts per month are accomodated. Further, the Foundation plans to create a medical cell at various points to guide the patients in arranging Angiography at a concessional rate of Rs. 1000/-, By-pass surgery within the range of Rs. 65-70,000/- with hospitalization & medication, replacement of 1 value with surgery, hospitalization & medication at Rs. 70,000/-, etc. These heart operation are carried out both in Private and Government hospitals. In a given situation in our country, over 2 crores of heart patients are suffering from different types of heart ailmenta and are waiting for sigh of relief. Any heart surgery or treatment being very expensive, is not within the reach of common ailing heart patients. It is a pitiable situation in our country that at times poor people have to sell their ornaments, property and whatever belongings they have like taxis, autorickshaws, etc. for the treatment and even this does not suffice. Besides there is no provision even in the government health programme to attend the need of these people. We therefore appeal to all, to come to the rescue of these suffering patients, belonging to economically weaker section of the society. Here is where the Foundation is trying its level best to cope up with the increasing number of heart patients. We need the goodwill, cooperation and help from people like you, wherein jointly with the Foundation, we can make a modest effort in this gigantic task of wiping out the tears from the poor ailing heart patients and their near and dear ones by saving precious human lives. The undersigned with prior appointment would like to visit you and discuss about the crucial matters related to this noble humanitarian cause, at your convenient time.
Thanking you an looking forward to your kind cooperation.
